Reggae stars Romain Virgo and Christopher Martin have songs that landed on Reggae Gold 2012. Virgo’s I Know Better and Martin’s Cheater’s Prayer have added to the dynamic mixture of Reggae/Dancehall songs on the two-CD collection. This prestigious honour is fitting as the two young stars have been very successful in their careers thus far, especially since 2012.Romain Virgo and Christopher Martin have shared similar successes though they are on two different Reggae paths.
Romain Virgo has been busy taking the Jamaican music industry by storm, especially through the recent release of his album, ‘The System’. The album houses hits like Who Feels it Knows it, I Know Better and System.
Romain Virgo’s Roots Rock Reggae sound has received the support of many fans internationally, as evidenced in his recent tour of the US West Coast. Alongside fellow Reggae artiste, Perfect, and the Reggae group Ikronik, Romain circled the three states of California, Oregan and Washington on a ten-date tour between Wednesday, June 27 and Monday, July 2,
Virgo also performed on Reggae Sumfest’s Dancehall Night on Thursday, July 19, which was followed by a performance at Reggae on the River on Saturday, July 21. “Romain shell di place….he definitely held his own…you could definitely see that he’s grown in the business,” expressed DJ Nicco, who was playing in the Pepsi booth during the 20th staging of Reggae Sumfest.
Christopher Martin was also on Reggae Sumfest’s 2012 line-up for International Night Two and was well received by the Festival’s patrons. According to a satisfied patron, ”Chris was amazing…him work di stage tonight, trust me.” Martin returned to the Sumfest stage after his appearance at the 2011 staging. The artiste has released hit after hit since the beginning of 2012 having released Paper Loving and Chill Spot Since after his release of Cheater’s Prayer in 2011.
