Rick Ross released a banger yesterday, and hip-hop heads have been buzzing about one of the coolest collaborations of the year.
The king of Maybach Music Group called into Hot 97′s Funkmaster Flex show to reveal how he started working with Dr. Dre and how Jay-Z laid a verse down for “3Kings.”
Dr. Dre has been a fan of Rick Ross for some time now, and finally they got together at Ross’ Miami studio.
“When he walked into the studio for the first time, I was just so excited. We knocked out five songs that first night. I feel we made some incredible music.”
After hearing the final product, Rick immediately thought of adding Jay-Z to the track.
“I already had jay on another record, but I reached out to big boy again and told him this is the one. So he made that happen for me. Shout out to Young Hov. It was just an idea I had in the back of my head and when I reached out to HOV he landed somewhere in a different country and made it happen for me.”
We’re glad West Coast rappers could come together with East Coast and Down South rappers all on one amazing track.
