It all ended with a bang……. well it sounded more like a bomb had went off.
This morning at about 1:30 am a trailer transporting what seems to be a gas well dug from underground completely ripped the over head bridge at Central Village on Mandela Highway, the side heading to kingston. Vehicles had to be re-routed to drive on the opposite side of the main road. The bridge is stated to be at a height of 515ft so for this to do such damage it had to be clearly way over the bridge.
massive contraption which destroyed over head bridge. I had asked my step dad to stand in front of the rig to just give an oversight of its size
As for the bridge which has been in place from as long as i can remember well take a look at the pictures for yourself!
The police operated tractor had a lot of work to in clearing the road for the busy day to night rush of going to kingston. this was all achieved in about one hour, but, not after much aero-dynamic stunt by the tractor. if wasn’t tipping on two wheels to even popping wheelies on its side, to even bouncing one to two feet off the ground. This kept the crowd very entertained. As they say team work make the dream work as police and residents near by help and assisted in any way they could.
Luckily no one was hurt and no vehicles damaged in the accident. As we watched the clean processed we joked and laugh at about a man named “Fourteen” now dead must be smiling in his grave , he tried to blow up the bridge during the gas riots but his plans failed when police intervened. LOL!
